General practice database in UK revealed risk of cardiovascular events to be 1.5 times than general population. (Similar to RA) Risk returns to that of general population after 5 years.
Underlying disease process, Myocardial/ pericardial involvement in IIM, anti SRP positivity and medications (Steroids) increases the risk.
As there is general tendency to stop statins in myositis group CV risk increases further.
